Artificial meat: the beginning of a new human chapter in science!

At present, more than one and a half crore cows, one crore sheep and goats, one hundred crore pigs and billions upon billions of chickens are being reared for human consumption in the world.What many of us don't know is how much we have to pay for this meat production.One pound of beefsteak weighs 2500 gallons of water, 12 pounds of cereal and one gallon of fuel oil.Thirty percent of the world's arable land is used for animal feed production.In South America alone, 5 million acres of land are cleared annually for grazing.Methane gas emitted from cattle is contributing to global warming much more than gas emitted from all cars in the world.

Factory Farming, on the other hand, is another horrific chapter in the twentieth century at the height of machine civilization.In a huge, closed house, thousands of animals are kept for life, reared for meat.Imagine a two-foot-by-two-foot enclosure where you are trapped in your excrement from birth, being forced to be fed a tasteless labyrinth every day, given regular injections to make you fat, listening to your peers scream in pain day and night, then no.One day you are being taken to Gutamer in a group to kill you.The horrors of factory farming cannot be overstated.Just search for Factory Farming Animal Cruelty on YouTube and you will find countless videos that will thrill you even more than the most terrifying Horror Science Fiction movie.

Our main food, livestock, cows, goats, sheep and pigs, these animals are much more intelligent and sensitive than we can imagine.These animals not only feel affection, love, fear, panic, they also have fear of death.Scientists say that animals can think of the future, dream, use their language (can use some symbolic tools).

Now the question may arise again that if 6 billion people are fed meat, what is the way without Factory Farming?It is not that modern people do not know about the horrors of Factory Farming.However, this horror is not reacting in our mind as the meat will come on our plate.It is not easy to ignore the fact that the genetic legacy of the attraction of eating meat has been firmly entrenched in our evolution over millions of years.It cannot be said that future people will also be free from the attraction towards meat.So why should future generations hate us for Factory Farming?The straightforward answer is the evolution of technology.

In the last century, the process of making artificial meat through tissue culture using biotechnology in the laboratory has come a long way.The taste, the smell is real meat.Various breakthroughs in stem cell research have opened up new horizons for this possibility.This is the most common method.Slices of muscle and other muscle stem cells are cut from the body of a living or newly dead animal and dipped in growth medium for nutrition to increase the number.Here the stem cells turn into real muscles and other cells.The cells are then placed in a mechanism that allows them to move regularly so that they can grow faster.This is because if the muscle is left without any movement, then its growth stops and muscle atrophy occurs.Separately grown fats and other cells are added to enhance the taste.  When it is fully grown, the meat is taken out and packed.The stem cell that was first taken from the animal can be used again and again.So it is possible to feed human beings from an animal for hundreds of years, without the need to kill again.  Scientists hope that the three-dimensional printing method will produce artificial meat from tissue that will give it the same taste and texture as real animal meat.

Artificial meat is now being made in laboratories around the world, but it is still unlikely to be successfully commercialized.  Now it costs thousands of dollars to make just a few ounces of meat.However, scientists hope that it will be possible to sell artificial meat in the market in 5-6 years.At first, the price will be very high but in 15-20 years it will be possible to produce at a competitive price.At the same time, if animal meat is eliminated and artificial meat is adopted as an alternative, the amount of greenhouse gas generated by animals will be reduced by 4%, energy consumption behind meat will be less than half, the land will need 1% of current and water will be 4%.

Finally, the use of biotechnology has raised many ethical questions, but it has been proven by various laws that nothing is unethical in the production of this artificial edible meat.So now they just have to bring the price within reach.
